What needs immediate care
If your situation is on this list, call us right away.
Severe toothache
Sudden or persistent pain that doesn't respond to painkillers.
Broken or cracked tooth
A tooth that's fractured, cracked, or chipped — especially with pain.
Knocked-out tooth
A permanent tooth knocked out — time is critical, call immediately.
Abscess or infection
Swelling, pain, and possibly fever — needs immediate treatment.
Lost filling or crown
A filling or crown that's fallen out, leaving the tooth sensitive.
Uncontrolled gum bleeding
Gum bleeding that doesn't stop after 10 minutes of pressure.

What to do before you arrive
Knocked-out tooth
- Pick up the tooth by the crown (top), not the root.
- Gently rinse with water — don't scrub.
- Try to reinsert it, or store in milk.
- Get to a dentist within 30 minutes.
Broken tooth
- Rinse your mouth with warm water.
- Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
- Save any tooth fragments.
Severe toothache
- Rinse with warm water.
- Floss gently — food may be trapped.
- Take ibuprofen for pain — don't put aspirin on the gum.
